Mechanical Designer (Automation)

Location: Hybrid, Montreal, Canada

What you will do

• Coordinate the mechanical aspects of specialized tools and automated application development projects.
• Follow up with internal technical leaders, managers, and designers from other disciplines.
• Manage suppliers against project requirements and validation activities.
• Prepare detailed mechanical assembly specifications and justify technical choices through simulations, calculations, and test models.
• Produce 3D models, fabrication and assembly drawings, and corresponding bills of materials.
• Build and test prototypes, support qualification testing, hardware-software integration, and development processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or an equivalent field.
• 2 to 5 years of experience designing mechanical and/or automated applications.
• Strong proficiency with SolidWorks 3D.
• Proficiency in both written and spoken French and English.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong team-oriented mindset.
• Proactive, self-motivated, results-driven approach with the ability to take initiative, solve problems, and propose practical solutions.
• Comfort working in a dynamic environment with multiple concurrent projects.
• Strong organizational skills, priority management, adaptability, and collaborative project execution.

Nice to have

• Experience with simulation using SolidWorks Simulation.
• Experience designing systems related to analog and/or digital electronics.
• Knowledge of SolidWorks Electrical.
• Knowledge of an additional language.
