Senior Legal Counsel- Privacy (Gaming)

Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid work with 3 days per week in the London office

What you will do

• Provide embedded legal support to product and engineering teams on privacy-by-design and privacy-by-default throughout the game lifecycle.
• Advise on new features involving player data, personalization, live operations, online services, analytics, advertising, monetization, and player engagement.
• Assess legal risk, interpret evolving privacy and regulatory requirements, and translate them into practical product guidance.
• Conduct and guide Data Protection Impact Assessments and other risk assessments, including matters involving children’s data, age verification, parental controls, profiling, virtual economies, telemetry, and behavioral data.
• Advise on GDPR, UK GDPR, ePrivacy directives, the Digital Services Act, AI-related regulation, and relevant European privacy requirements.
• Assess third-party integrations and data-sharing arrangements; draft and negotiate DPAs, data protection clauses, SCCs, UK IDTA, and other cross-border transfer mechanisms while collaborating with GIS, Compliance, Product, Engineering, and Marketing.

Requirements

• Qualified lawyer in the UK or an EU jurisdiction with 8+ years PQE or equivalent.
• Strong background in privacy and data protection law, including GDPR and UK GDPR.
• Experience advising on consumer-facing digital products or platforms, ideally in a product counsel role.
• Ability to embed legal advice into product development processes and provide practical, commercially focused guidance.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-legal teams.

Nice to have

• Gaming industry experience.
• Familiarity with ad tech, analytics, and data monetization models.
• Experience with children’s data, age verification, or youth safeguarding frameworks, including Age Appropriate Design Code considerations.
• Privacy certification or specialization such as CIPP/E or CIPM.
• In-house experience in a fast-paced technology or gaming environment.
• Experience advising on products containing AI.
