IP Counsel / Senior IP Counsel

What you will do

• Provide general intellectual property legal counsel to entities engaged in technology and product development.
• Advise attorneys and business units on IP protection and technology commercialization strategies.
• Develop and manage patent and intellectual property portfolios.
• Draft and negotiate technology-related agreements, including development and licensing agreements.
• Partner with business clients, in-house lawyers, subject-matter experts, patent agents, legal analysts, and outside counsel.
• Assess patent infringement risks, enforcement opportunities, and disputed matters, including IPRs and oppositions.

Requirements

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in chemistry, physics, or engineering.
• Juris Doctorate degree and admission to at least one state bar or the District of Columbia Bar.
• At least 7 years of intellectual property law experience focused on one or more preferred technology fields, including chemical, chemical engineering, geophysics, geosciences, or data processing.
• Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
• Proven experience engaging clients to achieve business objectives and develop and implement IP strategies supporting technology development, deployment, and commercialization.
• Experience developing, managing, and defending IP and patent portfolios.
• Experience drafting and negotiating technology-related license, joint development, testing, common interest, and non-disclosure/non-analysis agreements of varying complexity.
• Experience evaluating infringement risks, enforcement opportunities, and disputed matters, and collaborating with business clients, in-house legal professionals, subject-matter experts, and outside counsel.
