Intellectual Property Specialist

Location: College Station, Texas, United States

Salary: $5,084.33–$7,500.00 per month, commensurate with experience.

What you will do

• Review IP action decisions with licensing personnel and support proposed protection strategies, including identifying outside counsel.
• Monitor monthly IP docket reports and track deadlines for patent filings, office action responses, and maintenance fee payments.
• Coordinate with licensing staff, operations staff, and outside patent counsel on timely filings, responses, and related expenses.
• Assist the Licensing Director with information from the Office of General Counsel regarding outside counsel contracts and attorney selections.
• Maintain and improve internal IP management processes and workflows and prepare activity reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in a legal or paralegal role and at least two years of related experience.
• Written and verbal communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of word-processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
• Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
• Security-sensitive role restricted to U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents.
• Applicants are subject to a criminal history investigation and credential verification.

Nice to have

• Patent agent or patent attorney experience.
• Experience with patent docketing software such as Wellspring or Inteum.
• Experience in a university, law firm, or corporate legal environment.
