DevOps Engineer (AWS/Kubernetes)

Location: Onsite at the customer site in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, 5 days a week; occasional travel required.

Salary: $137,510–$200,000 annually; $20,000 sign-on bonus if hired as an hirify.global employee.

What you will do

• Support development and deployment of AWS cloud infrastructure, especially EKS.
• Support on-premise and portable edge infrastructure.
• Automate deployment processes and manage Kubernetes containers and AWS infrastructure.
• Integrate applications with infrastructure in collaboration with development teams.
• Monitor and troubleshoot production systems while improving reliability, scalability, availability, and performance.
• Explore new technologies and improve infrastructure tools and processes.

Requirements

• Must currently hold and maintain an active TS/SCI U.S. Government Security Clearance and be a U.S. citizen.
• 9+ years of DevOps Engineering or Software Development experience with a related bachelor’s degree; or 7 years of relevant experience with a related master’s degree; or a high school diploma/equivalent with 13 years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms.
• Strong knowledge of AWS services including EKS, EC2, EBS, S3, and Lambda.
• Proficiency with configuration management tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
• Experience deploying, scaling, and managing applications, containers, and operating systems.
• Ability to develop in Python, Bash, Go, or multiple programming languages; familiarity with Git, Flux, and other development and deployment tools.
• Proficiency in Linux system administration and troubleshooting, including comfort in terminal-based environments.
• Excellent problem-solving, oral communication, and written communication skills.
• Understanding of Agile software development methodologies and standard software development tool suites.
• DoD 8140/8570 compliance certification such as Security+, or the ability to obtain one within the first few months of hire.
• Must work onsite at the customer site in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, 5 days per week, travel occasionally, and remain flexible for schedule changes.
• Must be willing and able to help open or close the workspace during regular business hours as needed.

Nice to have

• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Accumulo, Ceph, Spark, NiFi, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Hive, Drill, Impala, Trino, or Presto.
• Experience with K9s, AWS CLI, SNS, SQS, Diode, and other AWS services.
