Software Build & Release Engineer

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain the GitHub-based build environment, including GitHub Actions workflows, runners, and repository automation.
• Manage build compute across Namespace, Google Cloud, and AWS while balancing speed, reliability, and cost.
• Improve build performance and stability through caching, parallelization, dependency management, and secure handling of secrets, access, dependencies, and artifacts.
• Execute and improve automated testing, reporting, branching, versioning, packaging, artifact publishing, and release notes.
• Triage and debug build, test, and infrastructure failures to root cause; monitor system health and prevent recurring issues.
• Document build architecture, runbooks, release procedures, and troubleshooting guides, and communicate status and incidents to engineering teams.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of industry experience in software build, release, CI/CD, or infrastructure engineering.
• Deep hands-on experience with GitHub and GitHub Actions, including workflow design, self-hosted or third-party runners, and repository administration.
• Experience with CMake and Make, plus working familiarity with Namespace, Google Cloud, and AWS.
• Proven ability to triage and debug complex build, test, and infrastructure failures across the stack.
• Experience executing testing and release processes for production software.
• Strong scripting skills, such as Bash and Python, and comfort working in Linux environments.
• Experience writing and debugging C/C++ programs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a record of producing documentation others rely on.

• Experience with build caching and remote execution.
• Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools for CI and infrastructure.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of software supply chain security practices, including artifact signing and SBOMs.
• Experience managing cloud and CI spend.
