AI Security Engineer, Defensive Automation

Location: Hybrid in Washington, DC (preferred) or New York City, United States; travel to the New York City headquarters at least once per quarter. Relocation support is available for a move to New York City.

Base salary: $155,000–$215,000 per year. Equity included.

What you will do

• Design, build, test, and improve AI-driven defensive security tooling with appropriate safeguards and human oversight.
• Assess systems through threat modeling and direct detection and remediation priorities.
• Participate in incident response for critical vulnerabilities and security events, from exposure assessment through remediation.
• Track security performance and communicate risks and tradeoffs to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Depending on expertise, conduct vulnerability research and validate findings or run vulnerability management, detection, response, and security automation at scale.
• Use threat intelligence and external advisories to prioritize remediation work.

Requirements

• Strong software engineering skills and production code in at least one modern programming language.
• Hands-on experience building with LLMs or AI agents.
• Solid application security and cloud security fundamentals.
• Experience running threat models.
• Calm, structured judgment during security incidents.
• Deep expertise in at least one area: vulnerability research, offensive security or red teaming, exploit development, CVE credits, bug bounty work, vulnerability management at scale, detection and response, security automation, or software supply-chain security.
• Ability to work in the hybrid Washington, DC or New York City arrangement and travel to the New York City headquarters at least once per quarter.
• Practical AI fluency is expected, including the ability to demonstrate day-to-day AI tools, workflows, and outcomes during interviews.
