TL;DR
Senior Robotics & Autonomy Engineer (Individual Drone Autonomy) (robotics, computer vision, embedded systems): Developing onboard autonomy and perception systems for individual drones operating in coordinated teams, with an accent on navigation, flight control, sensor fusion, and photogrammetry. Focus on optimizing real-time performance on resource-constrained companion computers, adapting algorithms to GNSS-denied and EW-contested conditions, and validating autonomy through simulation and field tests.

Location: Remote; listed locations are Kyiv, Lviv, and Warsaw. Occasional travel to the test site is required for field tests.

Company

hirify.global develops software for autonomous drones operating together in large, coordinated teams without pilots, with technology battle-tested in Ukraine.

What you will do

  • Develop navigation, flight control, sensor fusion, and photogrammetry features for individual drone autonomy.
  • Adapt algorithms for new sensors and constrained path-planning problems.
  • Convert R&D algorithms into reliable production solutions by addressing bottlenecks and edge cases.
  • Optimize latency, power consumption, and data throughput on real-time companion computers.
  • Build and maintain simulation environments and digital twins, closing the gap between simulation and real flights.
  • Support field testing, collaborate with the test-range team, remain available online during flights, and travel occasionally to the test site.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in robotics or autonomy engineering, ideally with UAVs or mobile robots.
  • Strong Python on Linux; experience with C/C++ and embedded systems is highly valued.
  • Knowledge of linear algebra, control theory, probability, and numerical methods.
  • Hands-on experience with state estimation, path planning, or flight control algorithms.
  • Practical knowledge of drone physics.
  • Experience with PX4, ArduPilot, or another MAVLink flight stack.
  • Basic computer vision or photogrammetry experience.
  • Basic electronics skills, including reading schematics, using a multimeter, and debugging sensors and power.
  • English at B2 level or higher.

Nice to have

  • Contributions to PX4 or ArduPilot or custom firmware changes.
  • Airframe integration experience, including sensor calibration, tuning, and flight-controller setup.
  • Experience with VIO, visual navigation, or navigation integrity in GNSS-denied conditions.
  • Defense or EW-contested environment experience.
  • Experience building, flying, crashing, and debugging personal drones.

Culture & Benefits

  • Engineering-focused, fast-paced, high-stakes environment with mission-critical goals.
  • Flexible working arrangements depending on operational and security requirements.
  • 20 paid vacation days, comprehensive health insurance, and paid sick leave.
  • Defense-sector benefits, including military reservation.

Hiring process

  • Recruiter screen, technical interview, management interview, security check, and offer.
