Sensor Fusion Engineer (m/f/d)

Location: On-site in Wessling, Bavaria, Germany; mobile work is available one flexible day per week.

What you will do

• Develop and validate multi-sensor fusion pipelines that convert radar, camera, and other ground-sensor observations into continuous target tracks.
• Implement and tune data association, state estimation, track initiation and maintenance, uncertainty handling, outlier rejection, and sensor cueing workflows.
• Define detection and tracking metrics, test scenarios, logging, replay, and analysis tooling for lab and field validation.
• Integrate radar and camera sensors from physical setup and networking through calibration, timing synchronization, coordinate alignment, and reliable field operation.
• Build interfaces for detections, tracks, metadata, and health data, and extend the architecture to RF, antenna-tracker, and distributed sensor data.
• Work with hardware integrators, sensor manufacturers, and the Mosaic team to diagnose failures and deliver reliable end-to-end ground-sensor capabilities.

Requirements

• Strong foundations in multi-sensor fusion and target tracking, including state estimation, data association, and probabilistic filtering.
• Hands-on experience developing detection or tracking systems for radar, cameras, EO/IR, RF, lidar, or other perception sensors in robotics, aerospace, automotive, or defense systems.
• Practical understanding of track management, sensor uncertainty, outlier rejection, coordinate transformations, calibration, time synchronization, and latency.
• Strong implementation skills in C++, Rust, Python, or a comparable language, plus experience with Linux, middleware, APIs, or networked systems.
• Experience integrating sensor hardware and working with vendor SDKs, protocols, detection or track messages, networked systems, and laboratory or field testing.
• Ability to work across algorithms, software, networking, and hardware and drive ambiguous end-to-end problems to root cause.
• Hands-on mindset, clear communication, and determination to make complete ground-sensor systems work reliably outside the lab.
