Electronics Engineering Manager (Quantum Computing)

What you will do

• Lead and develop a team of three electronics engineers, including hiring, goal setting, 1:1s, and performance reviews.
• Own the electronics roadmap and subsystem architecture for current and next-generation quantum systems.
• Direct mixed-signal, high-speed digital, signal-integrity, schematic, PCB, board-test, and system-integration activities.
• Plan and track workstreams, resources, schedules, risks, dependencies, and programme milestones.
• Set design, verification, testing, review, and documentation standards.
• Move experimental prototypes toward robust, manufacturable, rack-ready production systems with suppliers and contract manufacturers.

Requirements

• Around 10 years of experience in electronics design, including strong high-speed and mixed-signal electronics experience.
• Proven experience leading electronics engineers, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management.
• Experience taking hardware from concept through prototype to production on schedule.
• Hands-on mixed-signal and high-speed digital design, SPICE modelling, and laboratory verification using oscilloscopes and spectrum analysers.
• Experience with Altium, complex schematics, rigid-flex designs, advanced signal-integrity constraints, and design review.
• Familiarity with FPGA toolchains such as Xilinx Vivado or Intel Quartus, and high-performance carrier hardware.
• Knowledge of SFP+/QSFP-DD interfaces, 10/100G Ethernet, and high-speed differential-pair routing.
• Ability to provide technical guidance, maintain attention to detail, and choose waterfall or agile delivery approaches for hardware projects.

Nice to have

• Experience with Jira and Smartsheet.
• Exposure to cryogenic environments, RF/microwave engineering up to 500 MHz, or Python-based test automation.
• Familiarity with the Sinara/ARTIQ ecosystem in a quantum or physics research setting.
