Senior RF Engineer (Space)

Location: Hybrid role based at locations in Harwell-Didcot, Stevenage, or Manchester, United Kingdom

What you will do

• Develop satellite telecommunication payloads for a variety of orbits as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Design, simulate, and test RF systems and circuits, including schematic capture, component selection, circuit analysis, and electromagnetic simulation.
• Support spacecraft link budget analysis and complete engineering analyses covering derating, worst case, reliability, radiation, EMI/EMC, FMECA, and power budgets.
• Direct in-house and third-party PCB layout design teams.
• Deliver prototype and product-quality manufacturing packages.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in an RF engineering role within the space sector or an equivalent high-reliability sector.
• Knowledge of LEO and GEO communications payloads.
• Experience with circuit and PCB design and RF simulation tools.
• Right to work in the United Kingdom and successful completion of BPSS screening are required.
• BPSS screening includes identity, nationality and immigration status, basic criminal records disclosure, at least three years of employment or activity history, and reference checks.

Nice to have

• High-reliability design and analysis experience in space, military, automotive, or equivalent sectors.
• Spacecraft link budget experience.
• Signal integrity analysis experience.
• Knowledge of electronic-circuit radiation effects and mitigation techniques.
• Knowledge of environmental, thermal, safety, and EMI/EMC standards.
