Summer Intern Mechanical Engineer (Manufacturing)

Location: Wilmington, MA, United States; onsite engineering role. Internship starts in June 2027 and is intended to last at least three months, ideally up to six months.

Hourly compensation: $25.00–$31.00, with possible annual incentive and/or long-term incentives subject to company plans.

What you will do

• Support product development and mechanical engineering consulting projects from design through production.
• Develop mechanical designs and build breadboards, prototypes, and refined product concepts.
• Test prototypes and use test results to refine and improve designs.
• Use CNC mills, lathes, 3D printers, laser cutters, and other laboratory and engineering equipment.
• Collaborate with scientists, electrical and optical engineers, manufacturing partners, and industrial designers.
• Meet with and present engineering solutions to clients.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
• Broad technical background and a desire to continue learning.
• Experience with 3D CAD; SolidWorks is preferred.
• Experience with a range of manufacturing processes, including injection molding, machining, sheet metal, and casting.
• Experience designing biomedical products.
• Ability to connect scientific theory with engineering design, communicate design rationale, collaborate on technical teams, and contribute to hands-on prototyping.
