What you will do

  • Lead mechanical design of custom equipment, industrial machinery, skid-mounted, modular, and containerized systems from concept through fabrication release.
  • Develop SolidWorks 3D models and AutoCAD 2D drawings, including layouts, assemblies, weldments, components, general arrangements, fabrication and assembly drawings, and bills of material.
  • Apply GD&T, weld symbols, drafting standards, mechanical design principles, fabrication methods, and manufacturing processes.
  • Resolve complex design challenges while balancing performance, safety, manufacturability, cost, and schedule.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, controls, engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, and assembly teams; support builds, installations, planning, proposals, and estimates.

  • Advanced proficiency in 3D and 2D modeling software, including SolidWorks and AutoCAD or similar tools.
  • Experience designing equipment, frames, weldments, or assemblies that were fabricated and built from the drawings.
  • Ability to independently manage complex assignments from concept through detailed design and release, review technical drawings, solve design challenges, and collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, dimensioning, tolerances, fabrication methods, and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to provide technical guidance to other designers.
  • Associate degree, bachelor’s degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Mechanical Design, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work onsite in Rochester and/or Rush, NY, with travel up to 25%.

Nice to have

  • Experience with custom machinery, industrial automation equipment, skid-mounted systems, or modular process equipment.
  • AutoCAD Plant 3D or other plant design software experience.
  • Knowledge of piping layouts, pressure vessels, or industrial process systems.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks FEA, ANSYS, Caesar II, or other engineering analysis and simulation tools.
  • Experience with technical estimates, proposals, customer design reviews, mentoring, or leading technical design activities.
  • Familiarity with 3D point clouds, ISO 9001, Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement practices, industrial safety standards, and equipment design requirements.

Culture & Benefits
