QNX Senior Software Developer in Test (Embedded Systems)

Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Base salary: CAD 108,750–152,250 per year

What you will do

• Design, develop, and optimize automated tests, test frameworks, and test cases to improve coverage, reliability, and execution efficiency.
• Validate software on reference and customer hardware platforms across the software stack.
• Debug software and hardware interactions, analyze failures, perform root-cause investigations, and reproduce field-reported issues.
• Create defect reports, verify fixes through regression testing, and prepare test plans, documentation, and test reports.
• Build and maintain automation lab infrastructure and testing environments.
• Collaborate with development, integration, and test teams to improve product quality.

Requirements

• Experience developing automated test solutions for software or embedded systems.
• Strong programming skills in Python, C, and Shell scripting.
• Fundamental understanding of networking principles, including the TCP/IP model.
• Hands-on experience with Linux and other Unix-like operating systems.
• Experience testing software features across multiple hardware platforms.
• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, validation strategies, and test automation best practices.
• Experience creating test plans, developing test cases, executing tests, and reporting results.
• Experience with Git or SVN, Jira, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong debugging, root-cause analysis, and system validation skills in embedded software and hardware environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.

Nice to have

• Experience working with AI technologies.
• Knowledge of hypervisors, filesystems, and graphics.
