Senior II Site Reliability Engineer

Location: United States; remote

Base salary for US-based candidates: $146,400–$263,600 per year. Compensation outside the US varies.

What you will do

• Develop, test, and distribute changes to automation, software, services, and tools for the HIVE team.
• Design and implement observability infrastructure to identify and correct problems before they affect customers.
• Automate work across new tooling, code, and environments.
• Create tooling with Ansible or profiling techniques to support performance investigations.
• Build subject-matter expertise across the Compute environment and collaborate with support, operations, engineering, kernel, and hardware teams.
• Investigate and troubleshoot complex problems across physical, virtual, and containerized Linux platforms.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science.
• Advanced experience with Linux internals, system administration, underlying hardware, and enabling advanced hardware features in Linux.
• Advanced experience with the Linux kernel, operating systems, KVM/QEMU, and nested virtualization.
• Expert experience designing, developing, and deploying software and infrastructure at scale.
• Advanced engineering experience with large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience managing infrastructure at scale with SaltStack, Ansible, Kubernetes, Chef, or Puppet.
