Senior Publisher (Medical Publishing)

Location: Beijing, China; hybrid work with 8 office days per month.

What you will do

• Define and execute portfolio- and journal-level strategies for immediate development and long-term journal growth.
• Conduct market intelligence, portfolio analysis, competitiveness analysis, and monitoring of medical-community trends.
• Build networks with Chinese medical experts and opinion leaders and collaborate with editors, editorial offices, universities, hospitals, and publishing teams.
• Manage contract negotiations, renewals, invoicing, financial viability, and client billing and payment issues.
• Coordinate with editorial and production teams to ensure timely publication of accepted content.
• Support new proprietary journal launches through market analysis, business cases, editor and board appointments, and operational management.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or above, preferably in biomedicine or a related field.
• Solid experience and business acumen in academic publishing.
• Experience managing both Chinese society journals and proprietary journals.
• Experience launching new journal titles is strongly preferred, preferably with 5+ years of experience.
• Strong organizational skills, including maintaining accurate records and tracking workflows, deliverables, and milestones across concurrent tasks.
• Ability to handle complex situations through clear and effective communication and influence decisions.
• Advanced knowledge of conducting and applying market research.
• Strong capability to work effectively with teams.
• Ability to synthesize and apply customer feedback to improve content.
