Senior AI Engineer (Sana)

Location: Stockholm, Sweden; hybrid Flex Work with at least 50% of each quarter spent in the office or in the field.

Base salary: SEK 810,000–1,214,000 per year, plus potential bonus and annual refresh stock grants.

What you will do

• Architect multi-step planning, orchestration, and tool routing for AI agents.
• Implement code-generation agents and sandboxed code execution.
• Engineer memory, state, context packing, and grounding strategies.
• Balance latency, quality, and cost while developing safe fallbacks, graceful degradation, and robust error handling.
• Collaborate with platform and search teams to deliver reusable agent infrastructure.
• Establish safety guarantees and measurable quality improvements.

Requirements

• 3+ years of software engineering experience building production backend or platform systems.
• 3+ years of TypeScript experience with a strong record of writing reliable, maintainable services.
• 3+ years of experience with distributed systems, APIs, asynchronous workflows, and service-oriented architecture.
• 3+ years of experience designing scalable, reliable, observable, and maintainable systems.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, make technical tradeoffs, and drive projects from concept to production.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering, product, and AI research teams.

Nice to have

• Experience deploying LLM-powered applications, agent platforms, or AI infrastructure in production.
• Deep understanding of OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic LLM APIs, including tool calling and system prompt caching.
• Familiarity with RAG, memory and context management, multi-step orchestration, and human-in-the-loop systems.
• Experience running machine learning systems, including datasets, training pipelines, model evaluation, and drift detection.
• Experience designing LLM or agent quality and safety evaluation frameworks using tools such as Langfuse or LangSmith.
• Familiarity with vector databases, prompt and context engineering, experimentation tooling, Modal or similar sandbox environments, and strict access control for encrypted user data.
• Experience running Kubernetes services on GCP or equivalent cloud platforms, and working with Postgres and Redis in high-throughput, low-latency contexts.
• Contributions to open-source TypeScript projects.
