Master Thesis – AI-Powered Test Automation for Modern Software Development (AI)

Location: Hybrid setup with collaboration opportunities in Malmö, Sweden; applicants must be enrolled in a thesis course at a Swedish university.

What you will do

• Investigate how AI and Large Language Models can autonomously discover test scenarios or generate test cases from requirements.
• Choose between developing autonomous test agents for web applications that generate Playwright tests from observed user flows, or transforming user stories and acceptance criteria into executable Playwright tests.
• Design and develop an AI-powered testing framework or prototype.
• Evaluate LLM-based test creation and validation, including hallucinations, assertion quality, and test coverage.
• Explore how browser context, DOM structures, or API specifications can improve generated tests.
• Measure AI-generated test effectiveness against manually created alternatives and produce recommendations for AI-supported quality assurance.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field.
• Interest in software quality, test automation, and AI-powered development tools.
• Curiosity about Large Language Models and emerging software engineering practices.
• Enjoy experimenting, building prototypes, and evaluating their effectiveness.
• Fluent English.
• Must be enrolled in a thesis course at university level at a Swedish university.

Nice to have

• Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Experience with Playwright, web applications, or AI/ML.
