Producer (News)

Location: Fully remote, based in Dallas, Texas, United States; reports to Miami bureau leadership. Frequent domestic and international travel is required, including short-notice travel and extended time on the road.

Salary: USD 95,000–135,000 yearly.

What you will do

• Partner with correspondents and show teams to develop, report, pitch, and deliver visually compelling daily news, longform, investigative, lifestyle, celebrity, and human-interest stories.
• Field produce, write, fact-check, and conduct original reporting, deep research, source interviews, guest pre-interviews, and talking-point preparation.
• Produce live and taped segments, build rundowns, write intros, and coordinate with control rooms, senior producers, assignment desks, editors, and editorial teams.
• Oversee field operations including live shots, remote anchor setups, breaking-news coverage, video packages, graphics, and sound.
• Track the correspondent’s schedule and maintain communication across correspondents, leadership, production teams, and Standards & Legal.
• Ensure content follows NBC editorial and corporate guidelines while delivering accurate journalism under tight deadlines.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in network news, cable, or talk-show production, including live and taped segments.
• Strong journalistic writing, research, storytelling, and editorial judgment skills, with knowledge of U.S. politics, current events, pop culture, and lifestyle trends.
• Experience shooting with DSLR or iPhone and editing with Avid and/or Adobe Premiere.
• Strong ability to use newsroom tools and technology such as Slack, NCX, and Latakoo.
• Ability to work in fast-paced environments under tight deadlines, manage sensitive and confidential information discreetly, and collaborate across teams.
• Availability for nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and short-notice schedule changes.
• Ability to travel frequently, domestically and internationally.

Nice to have

• Experience with live programming and knowledge of NBC News Policies, Guidelines, and Practices.
• Creativity in pitching original ideas, strong organizational and multitasking skills, and the ability to remain calm while managing breaking-news situations.
