Lead Program Manager (Transit Technology)

Location: Remote for candidates based in Eastern Canada

What you will do

• Lead a major, multi-year transit technology modernization program from mobilization through design, integration, testing, rollout, migration, handover, and hypercare.
• Own the integrated master schedule, critical path, dependencies, milestones, acceptance criteria, risks, and recovery plans.
• Coordinate software, hardware, API, payment-service, field-equipment, and customer-facing platform integrations with engineering, product, architecture, QA, implementation, subcontractor, and customer teams.
• Oversee system and user acceptance testing, defect resolution, phased deployment, legacy coexistence, account migration, cutover, reconciliation, stabilization, and operational readiness.
• Manage multi-vendor ownership, escalation paths, subcontractor performance, budgets, contractual commitments, change control, forecasts, and executive reporting.
• Represent hirify.global in senior customer and partner discussions and participate in the executive steering group.

Requirements

• Deep experience delivering complex technology programs, with many years in senior program or delivery leadership.
• End-to-end ownership as the accountable program lead of at least one large, multi-year systems implementation, from mobilization through go-live and handover; workstream or project-only experience within another program is not sufficient.
• Experience establishing a program from day one, including the baseline plan, governance, and partner onboarding.
• Experience aligning vendors, integrators, suppliers, and customer teams around one delivery plan and holding partners accountable for commitments.
• Comfort with complex schedules, critical paths, resource plans, dependencies, risks, and recovery strategies.
• Practical understanding of software implementation, SaaS platforms, enterprise systems integration, APIs, technical testing, and production deployment.
• Commercial experience with program budgets, contractual deliverables, supplier performance, and change control.
• Executive-level credibility, clear communication, thoughtful negotiation, and the judgment to make decisions or involve others when appropriate.
• Experience turning lessons from previous programs into playbooks, coaching, or improved delivery standards; hands-on and steady under pressure.

Nice to have

• Experience in transit, fare collection, payments, banking, or SaaS.
• Experience with contactless payments, payment gateways, acquiring, certification, and financial reconciliation.
• Experience integrating software platforms with physical devices such as validators, fare gates, ticket vending machines, or other field equipment.
• Experience with large public-sector technology modernization programs.
• Experimentation with AI tools and curiosity about using AI to learn, solve problems, and work more effectively.
