Senior Python Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid role based in Mülheim-Kärlich, Germany

What you will do

• Design, build, operate, and scale platforms, services, and tools supporting the machine learning lifecycle.
• Build end-to-end ML training pipelines covering ingestion, validation, transformation, training, and evaluation.
• Deploy, optimize, and package models for cloud inference and edge deployment on industrial sorters.
• Build and maintain secure data platforms, including SQL/NoSQL warehouses, object storage, and feature stores, while ensuring data security, privacy, and compliance.
• Design REST APIs and internal web-based tools supporting ML workflows and data platform functionality.
• Containerize components, implement CI/CD, maintain production ML tooling, and collaborate with internal users and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Several years of proven professional experience delivering production ML systems with measurable impact.
• Expertise in Python, computer vision, and ML/DL tooling.
• Proficiency in MLOps, including data modelling, packaging, containerization, and CI/CD.
• Proficiency in data science for vision-based model optimization.
• Knowledge of cloud and on-premises platforms and interfaces.
• Knowledge of model optimization frameworks including TensorRT, ONNX, CUDA, and cuDNN.
• Experience with or willingness to learn TypeScript, REST API development, and modern frontend frameworks such as Vue.js or React.
• Knowledge of edge deployment on x64 and ARM/Jetson hardware.
• Ability to take ownership of projects, including stakeholder management, requirements engineering, project management, technical decisions, documentation, testing, and knowledge transfer.
