Senior ML Engineer (ASR)
Location: Berlin, Luxembourg
Hello, we are looking for a Senior/Middle ML Engineer with ASR experience (Whisper, wav2vec) and knowledge of German and English at B2 level. The company operates in the MedTech sector; the product is an AI assistant for doctors — it helps with documentation. Work in offices in Berlin or Luxembourg.
Context and product
The company has a product — an AI assistant for doctors, which is a documentation helper (not a treatment consultant). The product is already in operation and is used by hundreds of people. The task is to work on improvements.
The key focus is on self‑hosted ASR models (without external APIs), their further training, and tracking SOTA.
Candidate requirements
Mandatory:
- Industrial experience with ASR (not academic, not just API calls) — at least 5 years of industrial experience (PhD does not count). Ideally 8+ years.
- Ability to retrain models, understanding of the full ML cycle (from data to production).
- Fluent in German (mandatory) — working with audio recordings of German dentists, specific vocabulary.
- Python, the Hugging Face ecosystem (transformers, vLLM for serving), experience with self‑hosted models (Whisper, NeMo, ConvTran, etc.).
- Knowledge of strongly typed Python (Pydantic, etc.), async.io — a plus.
- Docker — mandatory.
- Minimum code quality
