Senior Data Scientist, Fraud Detection - (Fintech, Credit and Fraud)

Location: Berlin, Germany; hybrid working model with attendance at the Berlin campus 2 days per week. Relocation support to Berlin is available.

What you will do

• Own credit and fraud risk problems end to end, from ambiguous business questions through data, modelling, validation, deployment, monitoring, and business adoption.
• Build and ship fraud and anomaly detection models, real-time transaction decisioning, acquisition scorecards, and behavioural limit management.
• Build data marts, feature pipelines, and training-data pipelines.
• Drive experimentation through model rollout, monitor production performance, and address model drift at its source.
• Partner with Engineering on reliability and communicate evidence-based recommendations to Risk, Compliance, Finance, Payments, and leadership.

Requirements

• Track record of owning models end to end, from an unclear business question through build, validation, deployment, and real business use.
• Full-stack data science experience across SQL and data analysis, orchestration, scheduled feature and training-data pipelines, modelling, deployment, and production monitoring.
• Strong Python, testing, and CI/CD skills; experience with tools such as BigQuery, Airflow, Metaflow, or Vertex AI.
• Daily practical use of coding agents and LLM tools, including automating routine work, selecting appropriate models and context, and checking generated output for errors.
• Ability to work independently, choose an approach, reduce scope, ship quickly, and explain decisions.
• Strong judgment under ambiguity, including defensible trade-offs between false positives and fraud detection, and between losses and approval rates.
• Clear communication skills for explaining modelling trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders and supporting recommendations with evidence.

Nice to have

• Experience in fraud, credit risk, payments, or fintech.
• Experience with real-time or streaming decisioning systems.
• Experience building and deploying deep learning models in production.
• Experience building LLM- or agent-based solutions in production.
