General Counsel

Location: Miami Lakes, Florida, United States; must be able to access and navigate the organization's facilities.

What you will do

• Support the Managing Partner and senior leadership in attorney performance, productivity, case progress, and accountability discussions.
• Advise leadership and HR on employee relations, workplace complaints, investigations, discipline, separations, and employment-related agreements.
• Review and negotiate vendor and service agreements, identifying obligations, costs, renewal terms, termination rights, and exposure.
• Investigate case-related legal, ethical, financial, operational, and reputational risks; deliver concise assessments and follow corrective actions through completion.
• Help lead the legal work for a potential management services organization transition and support acquisitions through due diligence, negotiation, closing, and integration planning.
• Coordinate specialized outside counsel and escalate urgent or material concerns with practical recommendations.

Requirements

• J.D. and active bar membership in good standing, with eligibility to serve in the role in the firm's operating jurisdictions.
• Substantial legal experience demonstrating independent judgment and responsibility for complex matters; 20+ years of litigation or related experience preferred.
• Experience evaluating litigation or case-related exposure, researching unfamiliar issues, and assessing the adequacy of proposed responses.
• Working knowledge of law firm operations and professional responsibility.
• Experience advising on employment matters and negotiating commercial agreements.
• Ability to work effectively with attorneys, operational leaders, financial executives, and outside advisers.
• Strong research, writing, negotiation, and project management skills.
• Strongly preferred: personal injury experience or substantial research and writing experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with law firm risk management, plaintiff-side practice, MSO structures, or business mergers and acquisitions.
