Cloud Engineer (AWS)

Location: Reston, VA; employment eligibility verification in the United States is required

Salary: $150,000–$185,000 for Cloud Engineer I; $190,000–$210,000 for Cloud Engineer II; $200,000–$235,000 for Cloud Engineer III.

What you will do

• Design, deploy, configure, operate, and maintain secure AWS cloud infrastructure in classified government environments.
• Work with AWS services including EC2, EBS, S3, IAM, VPC, Lambda, and CloudFormation.
• Troubleshoot cloud infrastructure, access, networking, application, and service issues in complex environments.
• Communicate technical issues, recommendations, and solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Monitor AWS and cloud-security practices and contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous operational improvement.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI with CI Poly security clearance.
• Relevant cloud, systems, infrastructure, or engineering experience; the role may be filled at Cloud Engineer I, II, or III level based on experience, technical depth, independence, architecture experience, and qualifications.
• Hands-on experience designing, building, supporting, or troubleshooting cloud infrastructure, including AWS GovCloud, classified AWS environments, or other secure government cloud environments.
• Strong AWS experience with EC2, EBS, S3, IAM, VPC, Lambda, CloudFormation, and related services.
• Experience with infrastructure as code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible, plus cloud security controls and security and compliance requirements.
• Experience with IAM, authentication, authorization, SSO, federation, or similar enterprise identity technologies.
• Experience securing and hardening Linux or Windows cloud systems, with scripting and automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or a similar language.
• Understanding of cloud architecture patterns, networking, microservices, serverless computing, and container technologies; experience with Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, or similar platforms.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Relevant experience by level: 4–7 years for Cloud Engineer I, 8–9 years for Cloud Engineer II, and 10+ years for Cloud Engineer III.
