SOC Engineer I (Mexico)

Location: Remote within Mexico only; Monday–Friday, 1st shift, 6:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.; participation in on-call rotations and 24/7 operations support may be required.

Pay rate: 25,000 MXN per month.

What you will do

• Monitor and respond to alerts across SIEM, EDR, threat intelligence, network, systems, and cloud platforms.
• Perform initial alert triage and event correlation, validate alerts, reduce false positives, and resolve or escalate issues using SOPs and runbooks.
• Document investigations, incidents, response actions, operational activities, and resolutions accurately.
• Support vulnerability remediation tracking, cloud governance, compliance activities, backups, replication, and recovery readiness.
• Monitor server health, services, infrastructure performance, Azure, AWS, Microsoft 365, Azure Monitor, and AWS CloudWatch.
• Perform basic operational tasks such as service restarts, log collection, patch validation, and escalation of complex issues.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 0–1 year of experience in help desk, technical support, SOC, or IT operations.
• Foundational knowledge of cybersecurity concepts including phishing, malware, vulnerabilities, and least privilege.
• Basic networking and systems knowledge, including IP addressing, DNS, firewalls, and Windows/Linux operating systems.
• Foundational knowledge of Windows, Linux, and Active Directory environments.
• Strong attention to detail, structured-process discipline, accurate documentation, prioritization, alert management, and appropriate escalation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, eagerness to learn, ability to accept feedback, and commitment to continuous technical development.
• Ability to support a 24/7/365 operational environment, including nights, weekends, and holidays when needed.
• English proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking required.

Nice to have

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• Internship experience or relevant coursework in networking, cybersecurity, or systems administration.
• Basic familiarity with SIEM, EDR, ticketing systems, or security tools through coursework, labs, internships, or self-study.
• Preferred certifications, or willingness to obtain: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900), or Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST).
