Cyber Security Specialist (Houston)

What you will do

• Lead advanced threat detection, vulnerability assessment, incident response, forensic investigation, and post-incident reviews.
• Administer and optimize SIEM, CrowdStrike, Netskope, Entra, Tenable, EDR, IDS/IPS, firewalls, DLP, Proofpoint, KnowBe4, and related security tooling.
• Analyze security events and alerts, identify root causes, and coordinate remediation with infrastructure and application teams.
• Drive AWS cloud security governance and embed secure-by-design principles into architectures and control environments.
• Develop security baselines, hardening standards, procedures, reports, and improvement initiatives aligned with compliance requirements.
• Support penetration tests, risk assessments, audits, disaster recovery, employee awareness initiatives, and technical guidance for Security Operations.

Requirements

• Advanced understanding of cybersecurity principles, technologies, and threat landscapes.
• Expertise in network, endpoint, and cloud security, including SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, firewalls, and vulnerability scanners.
• Hands-on experience with security tools including CrowdStrike, Netskope, Entra, Tenable, EDR, IDS/IPS, firewalls, KnowBe4, Proofpoint, and DLP tools.
• Experience with vulnerability management, penetration testing, forensic analysis, incident response, and security engineering.
• Knowledge of secure system design, architecture review, AWS or other cloud security configurations, and IAM systems such as Okta, AD, or AWS IAM.
• Familiarity with NIST CSF, ISO 27001, SOC 2, HIPAA, SIEM platforms such as Splunk or Sentinel, and endpoint protection tools.
• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 3–5+ years of progressively responsible experience in cybersecurity, information security engineering, or security operations, including incident response, vulnerability management, and security engineering.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, discretion, judgment, attention to detail, initiative, and ownership.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Availability for after-hours support as needed for critical access or incident-related issues.

Nice to have

• CISSP, CISM, CEH, or an equivalent advanced cybersecurity certification.
• Familiarity with security operations scripting or automation using Python, PowerShell, or similar tools.
