Senior Software Engineer (Ruby)

Location: Fully remote, but candidates must reside in one of the listed U.S. states and work from the contiguous United States. Legal authorization to work in the United States is required; visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

Salary: $135,900–$153,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Design, review, build, and deliver scalable government applications and improvements to existing systems.
• Collaborate with hirify.global engineers, government partners, and contractors to architect, implement, and deploy systems.
• Ship user-focused features in an agile development environment.
• Automate development, testing, and production workflows; write technical documentation and conduct code reviews.
• Participate in on-call support, production investigation, and hiring activities as needed.

Requirements

• Experience with Ruby, Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, modern web development frameworks, and web-based systems across both frontend and backend.
• At least 12 years of full-stack engineering experience contributing to development initiatives in fast-paced, dynamic environments with minimal supervision.
• Experience building large-scale applications and designing highly scalable, available, performant, and sustainable architectures.
• Knowledge of engineering fundamentals, system design, and frontend/backend integration.
• Experience with testing, specifically automated testing, and code quality tools such as linters.
• Strong client services experience and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-directed, collaborative, empathetic, adaptive, and positive approach with the ability to give and receive feedback and support team health.
• Previous experience as a software engineer and the ability to work effectively with others.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States and residence in an eligible state are required. Candidates must not require visa sponsorship and may need to complete government background checks or security clearance.
