Community Manager (Old School RuneScape)

Location: Cambridge, UK, with hybrid working and onsite presence required once a week. Applicants must be based or willing to relocate within a comfortable commuting distance. The role is open only to applicants with permanent right to work in the UK.

What you will do

• Advise designers on how Old School RuneScape updates may affect different player groups and identify concerns before content ships.
• Manage forums, Reddit, Discord, and social media while building relationships with players.
• Produce and appear in livestreams, videos, and podcasts as a public-facing voice for the Old School team.
• Represent community sentiment in development and publishing decisions and advocate for the player perspective.
• Manage relationships with partners, affiliates, influencers, volunteers, and sub-communities.
• Monitor community sentiment and engagement and contribute to events, competitions, and community activations.

Requirements

• Deep, current knowledge of Old School RuneScape, including its content, niche communities, player ecosystems, and the impact of game changes.
• Permanent right to work in the UK without employer visa sponsorship.
• Comfort being on camera and speaking publicly; weekly livestreams are a core responsibility.
• Ability to analyze complex or difficult situations, propose practical solutions, and present recommendations confidently.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt tone for different platforms and audiences.
• Experience in community management, player support, PR, account management, or another role involving regular, high-pressure communication.
• Professional resilience and the ability to advocate for the community without taking difficult situations personally.

Hiring process

• 30-minute introductory call with the Hiring Manager.
• Task stage involving recorded answers to a set of questions to demonstrate thinking and communication.
• One-hour interview with Old School leadership followed by a meet-the-team conversation.
