Embedded Firmware Engineer (C/C++)

Location: Wilmington, MA, United States

Base salary: $112,012.60–$168,018.91 per year, plus potential annual incentive and/or long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Own firmware modules and drive bare-metal or RTOS solutions from concept through production.
• Write, test, and debug embedded software for actuator control, sensor reading, and system-state management.
• Collaborate between internal hardware engineers and clients on embedded systems development.
• Physically debug complex electromechanical systems using rapid iteration, logic analyzers, and custom test setups.
• Work in multidisciplinary teams of electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and scientists.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related discipline.
• 5–10 years of industry experience.
• Proven experience implementing bare-metal and RTOS-based embedded firmware, including FreeRTOS or Zephyr solutions.
• Experience controlling physical mechanisms such as actuators and motors, reading sensors, and debugging hardware.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and common communication protocols.
• Hands-on problem solving, ownership, proactive collaboration, strong communication, and willingness to seek guidance on complex challenges.

Nice to have

• Experience in regulated industries, such as medical devices.
