Head of Business Development (Humanitarian)

Location: Hybrid; Berlin, Germany, with other locations in Beirut, Lebanon and Amman, Jordan. Open to candidates located in and with the right to work in Germany, Jordan or Lebanon.

What you will do

• Lead regional business development strategy, planning, pipeline oversight and funding priorities across MENAU country programs.
• Guide opportunity identification, Go/No Go decisions, capture planning, bid leadership, proposal development and donor compliance.
• Coordinate technical teams, country offices, partners and consortia on complex, multi-country and multi-partner opportunities.
• Manage donor, partner and peer engagement and represent IRC externally during the pre-award stage.
• Build staff capacity through training, tools, knowledge management and business-development process improvement.
• Supervise, mentor and support the performance and professional development of regional Program Development Advisors.

Requirements

• Substantial experience and a successful track record leading large proposal teams on complex, multi-year, multi-partner proposals with minimal supervision.
• Experience developing and supporting humanitarian and development proposals for NGOs.
• Experience with strategies and proposal processes of government and statutory donors, including US Government, FCDO, EU institutions, UN and other listed donors.
• Experience collaborating with and supporting national and community-based partners.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in multicultural environments, including effective collaboration with remote and diverse teams.
• Clear, compelling writing skills, preferably including proposal writing experience.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
• Fluency in English required.
• Ability to travel internationally approximately 20% of the time.

Nice to have

• Experience in proposal budgeting.
• Fluency in Arabic.
