Senior Product Builder (Java/Kubernetes)

Location: Fully remote and global; work from anywhere

Annual total target cash: United States $143,800–$231,900; United Kingdom £90,300–£148,500; Singapore S$178,600–S$267,900; Canada C$152,700–C$251,200. Salary ranges are location-based and include base salary plus 100% variable target where applicable.

What you will do

• Own and extend Hub’s fleet propagation mechanism for access, secrets, tenants, licences, and custom roles.
• Write design documents, align foundational changes with dependent teams, and deliver tested production code.
• Design behavior for offline clusters, partial failures, Hub outages, cluster adoption, detachment, upgrades, and other failure scenarios.
• Build the path from clusters back to Hub for deployment inventory, health, audit records, and licence status.
• Design Hub’s event and webhook mechanism so administrators and agents can react to changes without polling.
• Participate in Hub on-call rotations and support backend development through reviews, guidelines, and contract tests.

Requirements

• Production experience building and running backend systems used by other teams or customers.
• Experience designing and shipping a control plane or similar system that pushes desired state to many targets, including outbox or event-log patterns, idempotent application, versioning, retries, and drift reconciliation.
• Senior backend engineering experience in Java, including API design, relational data models, and multi-tenant SaaS services.
• Hands-on experience with Helm and Kubernetes for self-managed installations.
• Software architecture and failure-analysis experience covering partial failure, blast radius, and consistency trade-offs.
• Experience debugging production incidents in distributed systems and readiness for on-call work.
• Experience shaping APIs or platforms as products, writing design documents, and gaining agreement across teams without formal authority.
• Clear, concise writing for asynchronous remote collaboration; ability to turn unowned problems into designs, plans, and shipped code.
• Ability to build AI-first from written specifications and review AI output as carefully as other code.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kubernetes operators or GitOps tools such as Argo CD.
• Experience with OIDC, SCIM, permission models, secret managers, or licence systems.
• Experience with hirify.global 8 or another workflow or orchestration engine.
• Enough frontend skill to build a thin UI over a backend capability.
