Solution Architect (Workday/MuleSoft)

Location: Hybrid role based in Manchester, London or Amsterdam, with up to 20 days per year working from abroad in the home country.

What you will do

• Own the People Technology API strategy and end-to-end solution architecture for the Workday platform.
• Design secure, resilient and scalable integrations between Workday, enterprise platforms and third-party SaaS solutions using MuleSoft Anypoint Platform.
• Define API lifecycle management, integration standards, technical governance, monitoring, security and reusable integration assets.
• Lead architecture reviews, solution design workshops, technical assurance and technology roadmaps for strategic transformation initiatives.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership across Workday Studio, Core Connectors, EIB, Cloud Connect, REST and SOAP APIs, RaaS, Workday security and related capabilities.
• Lead and mentor multidisciplinary engineering teams while driving Workday Extend, Orchestrate, AI, Self-Service Agents and emerging AI integration capabilities.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience designing and implementing Workday integrations, including deep hands-on architecture and development experience.
• 3+ years of experience designing and implementing MuleSoft integrations.
• Proven expertise with Workday Studio, Core Connectors, Enterprise Interface Builder, Cloud Connect, Workday REST and SOAP APIs, Report-as-a-Service and Workday security.
• Strong hands-on experience with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform and enterprise integration solutions.
• Experience defining API strategies, implementing API-first architectures, designing secure RESTful APIs and applying enterprise integration patterns.
• Strong understanding of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect and SAML authentication and security standards.
• Experience integrating Workday with enterprise applications, cloud platforms and third-party SaaS solutions.
• Strong understanding of integration architecture, data modelling and event-driven design patterns.
• Experience leading architecture reviews, technical governance and solution design workshops; Workday Pro certifications required.

Nice to have

• Workday Extend, Workday Orchestrate, Workday AI and Self-Service Agents experience.
• Familiarity with Model Context Protocol, AI interoperability standards, enterprise AI platforms and AI agent frameworks.
• Experience with event streaming technologies, Azure Integration Services or AWS integration services.
• TOGAF or equivalent architecture certification.
• MuleSoft Certified Developer or MuleSoft Certified Architect certification.
