Solution Architect (Cloud)

Location: London or Newbury, United Kingdom; hybrid working with office attendance 2–3 days per week and at least 8 days per month

What you will do

• Partner with Product Owners, UX specialists, architects, engineers, and business stakeholders to translate customer and business needs into end-to-end digital solutions.
• Assess initiatives and provide solution options, assumptions, and Rough Order of Magnitude estimates.
• Define secure, scalable, resilient, and maintainable solution architectures and requirements.
• Design customer journey-focused solutions using microservices, APIs, cloud-native technologies, and event-driven platforms.
• Apply AWS Well-Architected principles and establish architecture guardrails with Technical Architects and engineering teams.
• Support delivery teams in resolving complex technical challenges and contribute to architecture evolution within a SAFe Agile environment.

Requirements

• Experience designing enterprise-scale digital solutions for customer-facing B2C and/or B2B platforms.
• Strong knowledge of modern architecture approaches, including microservices, micro-frontends, and distributed systems.
• Experience designing cloud-native applications with serverless computing, containerised services, managed data platforms, and auto-scaling environments.
• Ability to define and document solution designs, including security, performance, resilience, and maintainability requirements.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, API design best practices, event-driven architecture, and architectural modelling such as UML or C4 Model.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, collaboration, and Agile delivery skills across product, UX, architecture, and engineering teams.

Nice to have

• Experience working in large organisations with significant digital customer platforms.
• Knowledge of SAFe practices and Value Stream-aligned delivery models.
• Experience designing and delivering event-driven architecture solutions.
• Familiarity with TM Forum-compliant APIs.
• Exposure to Node, React, or similar JavaScript frameworks.
