Project Engineer I - SAOC Airframe Development

Location: Lone Tree, Colorado, United States; in-office work. Occasional travel to customer or field locations may be required, with potential exposure to hazardous project sites.

Estimated starting salary: $150,661.49–$207,159.55 annually.

What you will do

• Support planning, coordination, and execution of engineering activities for product development projects.
• Help develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Provide technical support to project teams and interface with external customers or field-based employees.
• Prepare status reports, identify project risks, and assist with mitigation planning.
• Maintain design specifications, test plans, meeting minutes, and other project documentation.
• Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to support project execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field; a higher-level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
• 8+ years of experience in engineering roles.
• Knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary design and development team.
• Basic understanding of requirements management, system design, and integration.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship is required for employment.
• Ability to work primarily in an office or hybrid environment, work prolonged periods at a computer, and use hand and finger dexterity for computer work.
• Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally and work in potentially hazardous environments when visiting project sites.

Nice to have

• 2–4 years of relevant leadership and/or project management experience.
• Familiarity with project management software such as MS Project or JIRA.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary design and development teams and communicating with program management and customers.
• Experience preparing project estimates and technical proposals, and managing program cost and schedules.
• Experience leading baseline definition and maturation in complex development settings, including integrated trade studies and analysis of alternatives.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, parts lists, specifications, instructions, and test procedures.
• Experience or certification related to International Council on Systems Engineering standards.
• Background in the aerospace and defense industry.
