Sr. Specialist, Systems Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Huntsville, Alabama, US; onsite. The schedule is 9/80, with every other Friday off, and the role requires 10% travel.

What you will do

• Develop, derive, allocate, document, and manage systems, subsystem, and component requirements for rocket propulsion product development.
• Coordinate specification changes, verification plans, compliance assessments, and certification activities with integrated product teams using model-based systems engineering tools.
• Perform functional analysis and coordinate system trade studies to define optimized concept baselines, system architecture, and objectives.
• Coordinate project risk and opportunity assessments, mitigation plans, reporting, staffing estimates, schedules, and assigned engineering or technician work.
• Present technical results and represent the organization in meetings and teleconferences to resolve questions and coordinate work.

Requirements

• Degree and at least 6 years of systems engineering experience; alternatively, a graduate degree or equivalent with 4 years of experience, or at least 10 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• Active US secret security clearance required.
• Security clearances may only be granted to US citizens; candidates must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
• Background in systems engineering and understanding of Model Based Systems Engineering methodologies.
• Ability to manage projects under moderate supervision and communicate through oral presentations and written documentation.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or another relevant advanced degree.
• Four years of relevant industry experience in systems engineering, preferably in aerospace or defense.
• Experience with requirements management, risk management, and the product development cycle.
• Experience with liquid rocket propulsion.
• Experience with IBM DOORS, Cameo, and Model-Based Systems Engineering methodologies.
