Optical Manufacturing Engineer IV (E4)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States; onsite manufacturing and clean-room work may be required.

Salary: $133,500.00–$183,500.00 per year.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain methods, operating sequences, and manufacturing processes for parts, components, subassemblies, and final assemblies.
• Coordinate product improvements and new-product releases with other engineering functions and manage manufacturing engineering projects.
• Lead the use of design for excellence principles to reduce manufacturing and product costs and improve quality.
• Define time standards and recommend tooling and process requirements.
• Develop test procedures, evaluate results and work methods, and identify root causes and corrective actions for assembly and system-testing issues.
• Perform Process Failure Mode & Effects Analysis, prepare reports, coordinate supplier sourcing, and mentor lower-level engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 7–10 years of experience.
• Demonstrated conceptual knowledge and technical experience for everyday problem-solving.
• Ability to work in manufacturing and clean-room environments, including extended standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, use of hand and power tools, and work in tight spaces.
• Ability to distinguish between colors and work in environments with potentially difficult noise levels.
• Ability to use required personal protective equipment, including coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons, and face shields.
