Ruby on Rails Software Engineer

What you will do

• Discover internal API use cases with stakeholders, clarify requirements, define acceptance criteria, and break work into manageable increments.
• Design, implement, test, review, and release production Ruby on Rails API changes within established architecture and security practices.
• Handle authentication, authorization, sensitive data, integrations, dependencies, and delivery risks carefully.
• Troubleshoot API defects and failures, add regression coverage, and improve system maintainability.
• Evaluate workflow adoption and productivity gains with stakeholders.
• Contribute to domain modeling, design discussions, code reviews, API documentation, async collaboration, and support for less-experienced colleagues.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software development experience focused on Ruby.
• Professional experience developing and maintaining Ruby on Rails applications, with the ability to explain API implementation choices.
• Effective use of Git.
• Ability to refine straightforward stakeholder requirements into well-scoped work and request support when risks or dependencies exceed scope.
• Strong code quality practices, including readable code, automated testing, TDD where appropriate, continuous integration, meaningful reviews, and secure coding awareness.
• Fluency with AI-assisted development, including independently verifying generated code, tests, and assumptions.
• Clear communication and effective collaboration in an agile, remote team, including documenting decisions for asynchronous work.

Nice to have

• Front-end experience with React and TypeScript.
• Exposure to internal developer-facing APIs, identity and access management, or Model Context Protocol services.
