Forward Deployed Engineer Manager (AI)

Location: Hybrid working from the Brussels or Antwerp office in Belgium

What you will do

• Identify client opportunities where AI can create measurable value and set the direction for solutions that reach production.
• Lead the design and delivery of LLM-based systems, including autonomous agents, RAG pipelines, workflow automation, and conversational interfaces.
• Integrate solutions with client APIs, databases, and business tools while addressing GDPR, the EU AI Act, model licenses, and operational risks.
• Drive adoption through training, stakeholder engagement, user validation, and iteration until solutions become part of daily workflows.
• Partner with executives to refine production solutions, track business impact, and determine future investment.
• Coach and develop the team and establish quality standards for AI delivery.

Requirements

• Strong grounding in computer science, AI, or a related technical field, with a track record of bringing systems into production.
• 5+ years of professional experience, including leading teams or engagements.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, advanced prompting, RAG, fine-tuning, agent orchestration, and systematic model-output evaluation.
• Strong Python skills and the ability to quickly learn languages required by client stacks.
• Experience integrating APIs and heterogeneous systems and making sound architecture decisions.
• Ability to assess client context, prioritize what to build, and deliver measurable value at pace.
• Ability to lead non-technical teams through transformation through teaching, active listening, and communication.
• Fluency in English, French, and Dutch.
• Work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.

Nice to have

• German; support is available for learning it.
• Experience leading teams using LangChain, LlamaIndex, OpenAI SDK, Anthropic SDK, or similar applied AI frameworks.
• Experience deploying and operating solutions in AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience setting MLOps or LLMOps standards, including model CI/CD, prompt versioning, evaluation pipelines, and observability.
• Deep understanding of vector databases, embeddings, neural networks, and latent space.
