Lead AI Engineer

What you will do

• Own the AI Engineering practice, including its vision, standards, best practices, tooling, reference architectures, goals, and priorities.
• Build AI-powered features on top of foundation models, including agents, multimodal retrieval systems, assistants, document analysis, and advanced search.
• Guide AI solutions from experiments and prototypes through production deployment and integration with applications, workflows, and enterprise systems.
• Design agentic workflows, tool integrations, and context management systems, while making decisions about orchestration, model selection, and human oversight.
• Define evaluation criteria, measure performance, investigate failures, and improve solution quality through user testing and client feedback.
• Make AI systems production-ready with attention to reliability, observability, latency, scalability, security, and cost; represent the practice in the Engineering Council and support cross-practice collaboration.

Requirements

• Senior-level AI engineering experience with broad knowledge of models, standards, protocols, architectural patterns, risks, and pitfalls.
• Strong software engineering principles and best practices applied in day-to-day work.
• Experience building and shipping agentic solutions.
• Familiarity with common LLM models, their capabilities, and failure modes.
• Strong prompt, context, and harness engineering skills.
• Proven engineering leadership or the ability to demonstrate credible engineering leadership, including articulating, advocating for, and executing a clear vision.
• Fluent English and strong communication skills.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in Dutch or French.
