Fullstack Engineer (Ruby on Rails)

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands; hybrid schedule with 3 days onsite

Salary: €60K–€75K annual base salary including 8% holiday allowance, depending on experience and interview performance.

What you will do

• Own full-stack delivery in an engineering squad, covering backend logic, database design, and server-rendered UI.
• Lead the migration of Ember features to Rails and Hotwire in collaboration with product managers and designers.
• Handle support escalations, legacy bug fixes, stabilization, simplification, and performance improvements.
• Improve CI/CD practices and the deployment pipeline toward more frequent and reliable releases.
• Build and maintain Learning Management System integrations using LTI and partner APIs.
• Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions while documenting pragmatic technical decisions.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, with Ruby on Rails as the primary production stack.
• Regular experience with RSpec and Capybara and a practice of writing tests that cover more than happy paths.
• Experience working effectively in legacy codebases, including making pragmatic improvements without unnecessary refactoring.
• Good understanding of CI/CD practices.
• User-oriented product thinking and attention to how people use the platform.
• Clear communication, constructive code review feedback, collaboration, pragmatism, and decision documentation.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Ember.js or migrations from Ember.js to Hotwire.
• Experience with AI development tooling, Azure, or observability practices.
