Security Architect (Cloud Security)

Location: Hybrid in Sydney or Melbourne, Australia; collaboration across multiple APJ time zones is required.

What you will do

• Act as a security evangelist, architect, advisor, and hands-on practitioner for current and potential customers and partners.
• Scope customer-driven security feature enhancements and collaborate with Product Management to improve Snowflake from a security perspective.
• Clarify data engineering, data warehousing, data collaboration, AI, and machine learning concepts; build demos and prototypes using Snowflake and integrated solutions.
• Collaborate with Sales, Product, Engineering, Marketing, Support, and Field CTO teams to drive security feature adoption and customer engagements.
• Support Snowflake’s AI and Data Cloud security posture, Security DataLake workload awareness, and pipeline building through marketing initiatives, conferences, trade shows, and events.
• Share security knowledge with internal and industry communities through webinars and conferences and help shape Data Marketplace capabilities.

Requirements

• 10+ years of industry, customer-facing, and hands-on implementation experience, focused on data concepts, privacy, governance, networking, information security, and security technologies.
• Strong knowledge of RBAC, OAuth, identity and access management, encryption, and data governance.
• Deep hands-on experience with at least one cloud platform—AWS, Azure, or GCP—including its security, encryption, networking architecture, and technologies.
• Experience building demos, configuring cloud service provider environments, developing prototypes, and testing Snowflake use cases with CSP services and external security tools.
• Ability to create and explain security and networking reference architectures, security best practices, and hardening guides to customers.
• Knowledge of NIST, CIS, OWASP, and MITRE ATT&CK frameworks, including articulating controls and security mechanisms through a risk-assessment approach.
• Strong networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, IP routing, DNS, proxies, NAT, firewalls, TLS, and CSP private networking technologies, with related design and troubleshooting experience.
• Strong understanding of authentication with SAML, authorization with OAuth, and identity governance with SCIM and RBAC.
• Deep experience with large-scale infrastructure-as-a-service platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, collaboration, presentation, and whiteboarding skills for technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Understanding of cultural diversity across the Asia Pacific Japan region and flexibility to work with customers and colleagues across multiple APJ time zones.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Information Management Systems, or a related field required; a master’s degree is preferred.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of ANSI SQL-compliant databases and/or data warehousing.
• AWS, Azure, or GCP security and/or networking specialty certification.
