Senior Cloud Architect (AWS/Kubernetes)

Location: Sydney, New South Wales, Australia; in-office collaboration with teams coming in 10+ days per month

What you will do

• Own infrastructure architecture direction, scalability, performance, and design decisions for the Treasury Reconciliation platform.
• Define infrastructure standards and patterns that improve quality, performance, security, and maintainability.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to senior infrastructure engineers through design reviews, problem-solving, and knowledge sharing.
• Prototype and build critical-path infrastructure components while leaving routine implementation and daily operations to senior engineers.
• Make accountable infrastructure tradeoff decisions involving long-term cost, scalability, and maintenance.

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and owning large-scale distributed infrastructure, including personal ownership of architecture decisions, plus 3+ years as a technical lead mentoring engineers.
• 3+ years of experience with AWS and Kubernetes, with deep expertise in both.
• Expertise in Linux and Windows server environments and strong experience building and maintaining cloud infrastructure on AWS and Azure.
• Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and ArgoCD, plus Bash and Python scripting.
• Experience with data infrastructure and processing technologies such as Spark and MSSQL.
• Experience building infrastructure for high-volume transactional workloads; finance-sector experience is preferred.
• Track record of building infrastructure that scales, remains available and secure, using Agile practices to ship reliably.
• Architecture-led experience is required; primary experience executing infrastructure designed by others is unsuitable. This is a technical leadership role, not a people-management position.
