Software Development Engineer - Integration Platform (US Federal)

Location: Reston, Virginia, USA; may require on-site work at client locations in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. At least 50% of each quarter must be spent in the office or in the field.

Annual base salary: $137,000–$205,400 for the primary location; $123,900–$222,000 for additional U.S. locations.

What you will do

• Design and deliver scalable, secure, and developer-friendly Integration Platform solutions.
• Build capabilities for logs, metrics, system health, and diagnostics.
• Develop robust, scalable, and highly available systems supporting critical integrations.
• Influence observability strategy and serve as a technical liaison between the Integration Platform and hirify.global Government.
• Collaborate closely with engineers to maintain code quality and achieve shared delivery goals.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required because the role supports U.S. federal government contracts.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance is required; TS/SCI with CI Poly may be required. An active TS/SCI with CI Poly is preferred.
• 3+ years of strong professional experience with Java, including extensive multithreading and concurrency experience.
• Ability to design and develop high-quality, scalable, and highly available enterprise solutions.
• Practical understanding and use of design patterns and object-oriented programming.
• Collaborative mindset and excellent communication skills.
• Proven software development experience using Java or Scala is preferred.

Nice to have

• DoD 8570/8140 compliance with at least IAT Level II certification, including a current Computing Environment credential and one approved specialty certification such as CompTIA CySA+, GICSP, or CASP+.
• Experience with distributed systems, Kafka, Kubernetes, networks, and MySQL databases.
• Minimalist design approach focused on small, reusable components that can be embedded in larger frameworks.
