Commercial Construction Project Executive - Government

Location: Falls Church, Virginia; based at HITT’s headquarters.

Base salary: $167,800–$217,800 per year. Compensation may vary in other cities and states.

What you will do

• Provide executive oversight for multiple government projects and teams from preconstruction through turnover and closeout.
• Lead safety, quality, estimating, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, contract negotiations, financial performance, and project risk management.
• Guide construction logistics and specialized requirements for occupied, secure, operationally sensitive, and mission-critical facilities.
• Partner with government representatives, owners, facility teams, designers, trade partners, and field leadership to resolve challenges and meet project requirements.
• Lead proposals, interviews, client relationships, business development, and pursuit of new work in the government market.
• Coach project managers and emerging leaders, support staffing and succession planning, and develop government construction expertise.

Requirements

• 10 or more years of experience with a commercial general contractor, including significant leadership experience in government, federal, secure, or mission-critical construction.
• Required experience with public-sector procurement processes, including technical proposal preparation and preconstruction.
• Experience delivering complex projects for government clients or facilities supporting government operations.
• Familiarity with government contracting requirements, agency-specific standards, security procedures, and project documentation expectations.
• Ability to oversee multiple project teams and manage financial performance, schedules, contracts, project risk, budgeting, constructability reviews, value engineering, and procurement.
• Business development experience with a record of building client relationships and securing work; established relationships in the federal and government construction market are strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated success mentoring construction professionals, developing future leaders, and building collaborative, accountable teams.
• Proficiency with construction management, scheduling, estimating, and project documentation software.
• Strong communication, decision-making, coaching, technical coordination, and practical guidance skills.

Nice to have

• Design-build experience.
• A four-year degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or business; additional relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
• Experience with agency headquarters, courthouses, military installations, SCIFs, classified spaces, and secure operations centers.
