Test & System Operations Instructor, Senior Specialist (Electric Utility)

Location: Hybrid; primary work location in Alhambra, California. Employees are generally required to work and reside in California, reporting to an SCE facility for a set number of days and working remotely on the remaining days.

Salary: $163,000–$244,400 per year.

What you will do

• Deliver new-hire, new-to-role, refresher, just-in-time, continuous education, and performance-support training for transmission and distribution employees in classroom and field environments.
• Develop and maintain curricula, training materials, performance-support tools, and assessments using the Systematic Approach to Training, with emphasis on safety, work processes, technologies, and procedures.
• Provide subject-matter expertise and guidance on transmission, distribution, substation operations, electrical systems, and test technician work.
• Administer classroom tests and field assessments, establish pass/fail criteria, and provide trainee feedback.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and frontline leaders to identify training gaps, resolve issues, support performance management, and maintain regulatory and safety compliance.
• Oversee hands-on demonstrations, lab exercises, training logistics, technical roadmaps, and operational excellence initiatives across multiple locations and programs.

Requirements

• Five or more years of experience in electric utility line work, training, and/or instructional design.
• Valid Class C Driver's License.
• Maintain compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, approved work methods, company policies, and information-security responsibilities.

Nice to have

• Field experience working with relays as a test technician.
• Knowledge of SC&M functional policies and procedures.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Subject-matter expertise in SCE technical training materials.
