Staff Applications Engineer (Datacenter)

Annual base pay: $122,000–$185,000.

What you will do

• Develop high-frequency AC/DC and DC/DC power converter solutions for AI and data center applications.
• Define converter architectures and key system components for emerging high-density power systems.
• Provide switching power supply design support and technical guidance using hirify.global products.
• Develop reference designs and application solutions demonstrating performance, efficiency, density, and system value.
• Collaborate with product development teams and customers to solve technical challenges, evaluate tradeoffs, and optimize reliability.
• Provide advanced application support to customers worldwide.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a foreign equivalent.
• 8–12 years of relevant industry experience in high-density, high-frequency power converter design, including server power applications above 3 kW.
• Hands-on experience designing high-power and high-current planar transformers and high-frequency magnetics.
• Strong knowledge of power supply topologies, including totem-pole PFC, Vienna rectifiers, phase-shifted converters, LLC resonant converters, buck, boost, buck-boost, and flyback converters.
• Ability to perform complex circuit calculations, including worst-case analysis, for designs using hirify.global products.
• Experience with MATLAB, Excel, and simulation tools such as SIMPLIS, LTspice, or PLECS.
• Hands-on experience using laboratory equipment to test high-frequency switching power supplies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including creating specifications, technical reports, and test plans or instructions.
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards and system architectures.

Nice to have

• Experience developing C/C++ firmware for embedded controllers in power supply applications and providing firmware guidance.
• Experience with finite element tools such as ANSYS.
• Experience designing power supplies or converters from concept through production and supporting post-production.
• Knowledge of I2C and PMBus communication protocols.
• Familiarity with power converter debugging tools for embedded controllers.
