What you will do

• Lead the Department of Humanities and model, support, and reward excellence in teaching, research, scholarship, and service.
• Assess, revise, innovate, and modernize curricula; coordinate course scheduling and course offering plans.
• Oversee faculty recruitment and hiring, credentialing, evaluation, and professional support.
• Manage departmental accounts and budgets and develop partnerships across the university and community.
• Support students and recruitment and retention initiatives, and represent the department in college- and university-level meetings and strategic planning.

Requirements

• Doctorate in English, History, Spanish, or a closely related discipline.
• At least 5 years of full-time faculty experience.
• Publication and teaching records commensurate with the associate or full professor rank.
• Tenure is subject to approval by the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents.
• Regular face-to-face attendance on campus and in the workplace is required.

Nice to have

• Strong record of peer-reviewed publications.
• Experience writing, securing, and managing external infrastructure, instrument, programmatic, or research grants.
• Administrative experience as a program coordinator, program director, or department chair.
