Principal Kubernetes Engineer

Location: Remote; no travel required for most positions.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and support enterprise Kubernetes solutions, products, and infrastructure.
• Lead and participate in architecture discussions, planning, implementation, and research.
• Develop software platforms and frameworks, perform capacity planning, and support services through launch reviews.
• Drive proof of concepts and minimum viable products for demonstrations.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Sales, and open-source communities to improve products and share knowledge.
• Derive and guide solutions from ambiguous or incomplete requirements while maintaining system capacity and performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a similar field.
• At least 10 years of software and infrastructure engineering experience, including deep expertise designing, building, and operating production Kubernetes and Go services at scale.
• Deep hands-on expertise with Kubernetes and the cloud-native ecosystem, including operators and custom controllers, CRDs, Helm, and Kubernetes API machinery.
• Strong Go, Pulumi, Linux, and cloud infrastructure skills, with demonstrated mastery of at least one of AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Ability to derive solutions from high-level or incomplete requirements and troubleshoot and improve applications and processes.
• Strong problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to learn quickly.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
• Flexibility to support an on-call rotation.

Nice to have

• Experience building Kubernetes operators, custom controllers, or a Kubernetes distribution.
