Platform Engineer (Hybrid) - 30872

Location: Hybrid, with an average of 1–2 days per week at the Columbia, Maryland office; U.S. Citizenship required.

Salary: $111,662–$145,000 annually.

What you will do

• Enhance, optimize, and increase the robustness of existing code bases as a systems integrator.
• Define, build, and manage virtual cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Design and implement core software architecture and capabilities from prototype through operational applications.
• Develop custom software components and integrate open-source code to solve complex Big Data and Cloud problems.
• Work autonomously to identify and troubleshoot issues while contributing to broader strategic goals set by team architects.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required, and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance is required, although clearance is not required on day one.
• 5+ years of Platform Engineering or Go software development experience with a related bachelor’s degree; or 3 years of relevant experience with a related master’s degree; or a high school diploma/equivalent and 9 years of relevant experience.
• Experience developing and deploying infrastructure in AWS.
• Experience with Kubernetes or a vendor version of Kubernetes, Ansible, and storage layers such as Ceph, Rook, or Longhorn.
• Programming experience with Go.
• Solid understanding of Linux systems, hosts, networks, security, and applications, plus proficiency in Shell/Bash scripting.
• Excellent problem-solving, complex troubleshooting, oral communication, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment, spending an average of 1–2 days per week at the Columbia, Maryland office; flexibility is required for schedule changes.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with DISA’s Big Data Platform or other Big Data systems, including Cloudera Distribution of Hadoop, Hortonworks Data Platform, or MapR.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines such as GitLab CI, Travis CI, or Jenkins.
• Understanding of agile software development methodologies and tools such as Jira, Confluence, GitHub, or GitLab.
• Experience with Puppet, Ansible, Maven, and virtualization platforms such as oVirt, Proxmox, or VMware.
• DoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level II compliance certifications may be required as directed by the customer.
